Hello Friends-

I pray that you had a wonderful week and that the daily readings are providing encouragement and insight to your leadership. I can’t say that I am hitting 100% in reading every morning but I do really look forward to it. And I am getting better at pulling out leadership wisdom. For example, I have read the Parable of the Bags of Gold more times than I can count. Usually called the Parable of the Talents. I didn’t know that one NIV Bible calls it Bags of Gold and another NIV Bible calls it Talents! (FYI – a talent is about 75 pounds so 3 talents would be very valuable. Also, my Study Bible states that the present day usage of “talent” to indicate an ability or gift is derived from this parable! )

The leadership message from this Parable comes from verse 15 which states that each were given their talents “according to his ability”. The master knew the ability of each of his servants, from the most to the least talented. Today, there are many self-assessment tools that identify gifts or strengths – like StrenghtFinders. These assessments, and the understanding of individual results in relation to the team, are valuable tools for leaders. Each according to their talents!

This is a transition week!  We finish Exodus and Matthew and start Leviticus (means relating to the Levites and includes the moral laws and worshipping in the Tabernacle) and Mark (possibly written 50s – early 60 AD. Referred to as John Mark, a close associate of Peter, cousin of Barnabas.)
